SLBS Import Monitoring Programme

The Import Monitoring programme was initiated on January 01,  2003. This programme is one component of the overall Compulsory Standards Compliance Programme (CSCP). It was implemented to prevent the entry of goods into the market which are likely to be a danger to consumers and the environment. Under this programme, the Compliance department is tasked with monitoring the quality and labeling of commodities which are imported to ensure compliance with national compulsory standards.

Through this programme  imported products can be examined at the importer's bonds or warehouses to ensure compliance where necessary. In instances where non conformities are found, the products will be placed on hold or seized and the importer notified of such non conformities. Importers are advised to take the necessary corrective action. Test certificates verifying the quality and safety of the products are also required by the Bureau from independent third party certification bodies.
