Certification
PRODUCT
CERTIFICATION
Product certification
is applicable to products or services for which national standard
specifications exist. There are two components to this programme: (i)
the certification of products, which involves the use of the Saint
Lucia Standard Mark, and (ii) the certification of services, of
which currently a tourism accommodation certification programme, the
Tourism Registration Programme (TRP), is being offered.
The Saint Lucia
Standard Mark
The St. Lucia
Standard Mark is a quality seal which indicates that a product
complies with regionally and internationally accepted National
Standards, and that the supplier maintains an efficient and
appropriate quality management system.
Use of the
Mark: This
certification label scheme includes a formal process involving
inspection, laboratory testing and follow up evaluation. Following
successful certification, a license to carry the St. Lucia Standards
Mark is granted by SLBS to the manufacturer of the product.
The Tourism
Registration Programme (TRP)
The Tourism
Registration Programme is a joint initiative of the Saint Lucia
Bureau of Standards and the Ministry of Tourism, in an effort to
improve the quality of the tourism product.
The programme
currently targets the accommodation and food & beverage
sub-sectors for which standards have been developed. Under this
programme, the establishment is inspected to determine whether or
not the requirements of the standard have been met.
