Developing a Quality Management System
The
Bureau of Standards is in the process of developing a quality
management system against the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
As part of that process a two day training exercise for all SLBS
staff was conducted by a representative of the Standards
Council Canada
.
What
is ISO 9000:
The
ISO 9000 family is primarily
concerned with "quality management". This refers to what
the organization does to fulfil the customer's quality requirements,
applicable regulatory requirements, while aiming to enhance customer
satisfaction and achieve continual improvement of its performance in
pursuit of these objectives.
The
ISO 9000 family has become an international reference for quality
management requirements in business-to-business dealings. These
standards can be applied to all types of organizations.
