Technical Committees

Standards are formulated by the work of technical committees comprising persons from various interests such as producers, consumers, technologists and professionals from both private and public sectors. Through this partnership consensus on the standards is achieved. This approach, although time consuming, allows for adopted standards to be more readily accepted by all parties.

Currently ten technical committees have been established in St. Lucia:

  • Advertising
  • Metrology
  • Tourism
  • Furniture
  • Food Products and Food Safety
  • Agricultural Produce and Practices
  • Chemicals and Chemical Products
  • Construction and Engineering
  • Environmental Management
  • Telecommunications

Proposed

  • Emergency and Medical Services
  • Conformity Assessment
  • Information Technology
  • Clothing and Textiles
  • General Consumer Products and Practices
