Standards Council
The Council is the main policy organ, as well as the financial
regulator of the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards. The Council
is appointed by the Minister for Trade, Industry and Commerce Hon.
Sen. Guy Mayers
under whom the responsibility for the Bureau falls. The
fifteen-member Council represents government and non-governmental
agencies, various sections of industry as well as consumer
interests. The Council establishes policy guidelines, that
direct the Bureau to effectively carry out its role in improving
the quality of products and services, enhancing market competitiveness
and export capability of local industry, as well as providing
protection for the consumer and the environment.

The
Director is responsible
for the overall management and operation of the Bureau.
He is responsible for developing and
directing the work programme of the professional, technical
and administrative staff of the Bureau. The Director organizes and plans the activities of the organization in
accordance with the policies agreed to by the governing
council.
